MINUTES OF SELECTMEN MEETING – August 12, 2013 5:00 PM

Ed Deming and Stephen Messenger were present to discuss the repair costs of the grader. Estimated repair costs of $150,000, some of the repairs that are needed:
replacement of tires $13,000 (without requiring chains)
drivebox bent $8,000
electrical issues $6,000
wing & cylinders $7,500
chainbox $3,300 - $$8,128
transmission $35,000
Estimates were given by Schmidt Equipment.
Ed presented the quotes to purchase a new grader.
Milton Cat $205,642 with trade 5 year warranty
John Deere $216,500 with trade 1 year warranty
Volvo $208,437 with trade 1 year warranty
Steve made motion to move forward with the purchase of a new grader, Tom seconded. The Board of Selectmen unanimously voted yes to move forward with the purchase of a new grader. Ed will follow Mass General Law Chapter 30B Procurement Act for the purchase.
Steve excused himself.
Ed was given a draft of a possible license agreement between the Town of Tolland and Springfield Water Works to repair and maintain Ames Case and Blandford Road. The board is willing to review the idea as more details form.
Phil Grannan, Tolland Grant Writer updated the board on the grants he is currently working on.
